What is APRS?
APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) is a real-time tactical digital communication system used by amateur radio operators. It provides live information such as:
- GPS position tracking
- Weather station data
- Messaging and bulletins
- Telemetry
- Emergency signaling
APRS works over radio, independent of the internet — but gateways like APRS-IS allow radio packets to appear online, including on APRS.fi.
APRS Passcode
To connect software like YAAC, PinPoint, APRSdroid, or Direwolf to APRS-IS, you need an APRS passcode.
